Since her earliest beginnings at the keyboard, Katie Liu has gravitated towards the music of Chopin. A student of Natasha Snitkovsky for 11 years, Katie has immersed herself in the piano works of Chopin. Performances of music by such composers as Chopin, Bach and Beethoven, have won her top prizes at various competitions, most recently first prizes at the 40th Ithaca College High School Piano Competition and the US New Star Piano Competition. Katie has performed locally in her hometown, nationally (Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall in New York and Frost Chopin Academy in Miami), and internationally (Perugia, Italy and Beijing, China). As a three-time Chopin Foundation Scholarship recipient, she has also participated in the Frost Chopin Academy at the University of Miami. Katie is also a violinist and a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
