Matthew Liu, 17 yrs, studies piano with Profs. Jack Winerock and Scott Smith at the University of Kansas. He was a 2024 National YoungArts Winner in PiaNo. He won the Young Jury Award and third prize at the 2024 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, SC. He was one of three featured gold medalists at the Rubato International Piano Competition Gala Concert in Oxford, Alabama in August 2024. Earlier in 2024, he performed Mozart Piano Concerto #21 with Stratus Chamber Orchestra in Denver conducted by the rising musician Adam Torres. In previous years, he won the best Chopin performance in MTNA junior piano, first prizes at many international competitions such as IYAPC in D.C., Chopin International Competition in CT, and IKOF in CO. As an established young musician, he performs regularly across the US, including concertos with Kansas City Symphony, Topeka Symphony, and Fort Collins Community Orchestra, chamber music with St. Petersburg String Quartet, Mid-America Performing Arts Alliance, and solos in venues such as Kanas City music club, Yardley Hall and Polsky Theatre music series, Lied Center of Kansas, and Kansas Public Radio.
