Megumi Maekawa (Megumi Margaret Kenevan), daughter of an American father and Japanese mother, was born in 2005.  Megumi is a student at Toho Gakuen College of Music and studies piano under the primary tutelage of Nobuhito Nakai and Yukio Yokoyama. She has participated in a number of well-known international music academies such as the Auer International Piano Academy in Seoul and the Kirishima International Music Festival in Kyushu, Japan and has attended many master classes led by internationally renowned pianists; including Edward Auer, Akiko Ebi, Andrzej Jasinski, Cyprien Katsaris, Kevin Kenner, Piotr Paleczny, Bruno Rigutto, Wojciech Switala, and Katarzyna-Popowa-Zydron.  She has finished at the  top  of many international competitions, and her recent awards include the gold  medal in the  2021  Chopin  Int’l Piano Competition in Asia, the Absolute Award  in the  2022  WPTA Finland int’l piano  competition, the Grand  Prize in the  2022  Pacific  Stars Int’l Piano Competition, the Grand Prize in the 2022 Int’l Amadeus Online Piano Competition, 2nd  Prize in LISMA Int’l Music Competition, 2nd  Prize in the  2022  San Francisco Artcial International Piano Competition, 2nd Prize in the  special edition of WPTA Spain int’l piano  competition and 1st Prize in 2024  Toho Gakuen Concerto Competition.
