Pianist Sean Kennard Performs Admired Chopin Composition ‘Heroic Polonaise’

American pianist Sean Kennard will perform at our Chopin Salon on Sunday, November 24, with one of Chopin's most admired compositions: Polonaise in A-flat Major Op. 53.

The piece requires exceptional piano skills and great virtuosity to be interpreted at a high degree of proficiency. It is also very physically demanding and features technical aspects, including fast ascending chromatic perfect fourths; rapid, difficult octave scaling; trills with the weaker fingers; quick scales; fast arpeggios; broken chords; chords with wide fingering; and use of a wide range of the piano keyboard.

In spite of Chopin's reluctance to bestow descriptive names on his music, scholars and pianists have associated the grand architecture of the music with the nickname "heroic."

Hear Sean Kennard perform select pieces from Chopin, Debussy, and Liszt during our intimate Chopin Salon gathering on Sunday, November 24, 4 PM, at the beautiful La Gorce Country Club, Miami Beach.

Join us after the concert for a wine reception (included), followed by an optional add-on dinner (sold separately).
